Looking at ADHD Through Scripture: Embracing Your Wiring with Faith and Grace

What if ADHD isn’t just something to manage—but something to understand through a different lens? A look at wiring, faith, and purpose working together.

Looking at ADHD Through Scripture: Embracing Your Wiring with Faith and Grace
Maybe your wiring isn’t something to fight… Maybe it’s something to understand.

If you're here, I have a feeling you're one of us—beautifully and intentionally wired for wonder.

Maybe you’ve lived your whole life with ADHD.
Maybe, like me, you masked it and it’s a later diagnosis—mine didn’t come until after 60.
Or maybe you love, lead, or work with someone wired this way and want to understand more than just “tips and tricks.”

Wherever you are in that, you’re welcome here.

You’re not behind.
You’re not broken.
And you’re not alone.

I’m Gail—coach, caregiver, business owner, grandmother, Jesus follower, and a woman learning every day what it means to live fully with ADHD.

I know the rollercoaster:

The highs of hyperfocus that make you feel unstoppable.
The crashes that leave you questioning everything.
The brain fog.
The emotional intensity.
The way a simple task can feel like climbing a mountain.

But here’s the question that changed things for me:

What if Scripture actually speaks into the way we’re wired?

What I’m Seeing Differently

I’m not talking about labeling Bible characters with modern diagnoses.

I’m talking about recognizing patterns.

Impulsivity.
Intensity.
Big faith.
Big emotion.
Moments of bold action… followed by moments of doubt.

Sound familiar?

Scripture is full of people who were:

• Passionate to the point of impulsive
• Emotionally expressive
• Easily overwhelmed
• Deeply purpose-driven

And still—called, used, and loved by God.

This Changes the Lens

For a long time, it’s been easy to view ADHD as:

• Something to fix
• Something to manage
• Something to push through

But what if it’s also something to understand… and steward?

That doesn’t ignore the hard parts.

The challenges are real:
• Regulation
• Focus
• Follow-through
• Emotional swings

But alongside those challenges are gifts:

• Creativity
• Empathy
• Energy
• Passion
• A different way of seeing the world

The goal isn’t denial.

The goal is alignment.

Faith + Function (Not Either/Or)

One of the things I’ve been exploring is how faith and neuroscience actually work together—not against each other.

Prayer isn’t just spiritual—it regulates.
Stillness isn’t just obedience—it resets.
Purpose isn’t just calling—it anchors attention.

This isn’t about turning the Bible into science.

And it’s not about turning ADHD into a spiritual issue.

It’s about recognizing that both matter—and both can help.

What This Means Going Forward

I’m still learning.

I’ll keep exploring how Scripture, real life, and how our brains are wired intersect in practical ways.

Some posts will lean more biblical.
Some more practical.
Some more personal.

But the heart behind it stays the same:

To understand how we’re wired
And live in a way that honors both that wiring and the God who designed it.

A Thought to Sit With

What part of your wiring have you spent years trying to “fix”…

…that might actually be something God wants to use?

You don’t have to have that answer today.

But it’s worth asking.

With grace and grit,
Gail
