The One-Page Prayer Model

Struggling to stay consistent with prayer? This simple one-page model helps you stay connected with God—without pressure, perfection, or rigid routines.

The One-Page Prayer Model
Not more structure. Better structure.

If you’re like me, you’ve probably tried a dozen “proven” prayer routines…

…and abandoned most of them.

Not because prayer doesn’t matter.
But because life happens.
ADHD happens.
And rigid systems don’t always fit how we’re wired.

And if we’re honest?

Every time one of those systems falls apart, it’s easy to feel like we failed.

Not just at the habit…
but at our faith.

A Simpler Way

That’s why I started using what I call the One-Page Prayer Model.

A simple, visual way to stay connected with God—without pressure.

It’s not about checking boxes.

It’s about having something you can return to…
no matter how many times your day gets interrupted.

Why This Works

For many of us, structure is a double-edged sword.

Too much → we feel restricted
Too little → we drift

What we actually need is flexible structure.

A framework that guides…
without controlling.

That’s what this is.

What Goes on the Page

I use five simple sections (and adjust as needed):

1. Praise

Who God is

Example: Provider, Sustainer, Patient

2. Confession

Honest reflection—not shame

Example: “I’ve been impatient this week.”

3. Thanks

Specific gratitude

Example: “Thank You for the laughter at dinner last night.”

4. Requests

Clear, focused needs

Example: “Peace for my friend during surgery.”

5. Listening

A blank space to pause and receive

How I Use It

• Keep it visible (desk, fridge, Bible)
• Don’t aim for perfect—some days you’ll only touch one section
• Update it often—cross off, add, adjust
• Make it yours—color, doodle, adapt

What Scripture Shows Us

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God…”
—Philippians 4:6–7

This isn’t about doing prayer “right.”

It’s about staying connected.

What I’ve Experienced

I started this because I needed prayer to stop feeling like one more obligation.

Some days, I glance at the page and pray through one section.

Other days, I sit longer, write more, and listen more.

Both count.

Neither makes me better or worse.

They’re just different ways of showing up.

Practical Takeaways

• Make it visual—see the whole picture
• Keep it simple—short categories reduce overwhelm
• Let it flex—some days are quick, some are deep
• Keep it visible—what you see, you use

A Moment with God

Lord, thank You for meeting me exactly where I am.

Not perfect.
Not consistent.
But still Yours.

Teach me to come to You freely—whether I have a few words or a full page.

Let this be a tool that draws me closer, not something that weighs me down.

Amen.
